Monuments and Memorials

A rich history such as the one experienced by the Keweenaw peninsula invited the urge for local groups and societies to erect memorials and monuments to those people and events that helped shape the Copper Country. Many of these monuments were constructed decades ago, as the copper industry began to wane and the new industry of tourism was brought in to replace it. Many of those buildings and people that no longer call the Keweenaw home are inshrined in one of several monuments and memorials scattered along the roads and highways of the peninsula.
