Eagle River Deer Park

Location: Eagle River  Interest: Email or Print

Nestled in the cool embrace of a Cedar forest lies this small roadside park in Eagle River. A few picnic tables and grills are scattered about under the trees, with a modern restroom at the road’s edge. The Garden City Creek flows along the eastern boundary, and to the north the Cedars become thick and tangled. Quite peaceful in the summer months, this same park becomes home to dozens upon dozens of hungry deer in the winter months taking advantage of the park’s feed piles. Because of this the park is one of the few Keweenaw parks to be more popular in the winter then during the summer.

NOTES: Though alongside the highway, this small park is often quiet and deserted. Parking is provided off the road, and most grill sites are only a short walk away.

DIRECTIONS: From Eagle River follow M26 east out of town. The park sits on the left right at the outskirts of town.
