On Wednesday, May 19, 2010, stop by the Calumet Public Library at 6:30pm to enjoy a presentation by Harvey Desnick entitled, The Keweenaw’s Amazing Orchids and Rare Wildflowers. He’s a local photographer and the author of Keweenaw Wildflowers Blooming Seasons.
Enjoy seeing and learning about 26 native orchids that grow in the rare habitats of the Keweenaw Peninsula. You’ll also be introduced to some of the Keweenaw’s rarest wildflowers, some of which grow on the rocky shores of Lake Superior, while others only inhabit the exposed gravely cliff banks along the ridges of the Keweenaw’s ancient mountain range.
Books will be available for sale at the library during this free presentation if you wish to purchase one, or can be obtained at many local bookstores. Have Harvey sign your copy if you have one!
NOTE: In case of bad weather, when school is cancelled, all library programs are cancelled.
